Snake plant

Draecana trifasciata (Sansevieria trifasciata, snake plant, viper's bowstring hemp, saint george's sword, Mother in law's tongue)

Draecana trifasciata was known before as Sansevieria, is a tough, hardy and enduring succulent from Africa which makes a very strong and bold statement in the modern garden. Commonly known as Mother-in-law's tongue or Snake plant or Spear plant, it's upright, fleshy, lance-shaped leaves stand tall and bold in pots and containers both indoors and out in bright sunlight or deep shade, such is the adaptability of this wonderful Sansevieria trifasciata plant.

The leaves of Sansevieria trifasciata are green with horizontal bands of prominent grey marbling along the length. A variegated leaf form with a yellow margin is sold under the name of Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii'. Perfect for most pots and containers you will never go wrong with a Mother-in-Law's Tongue! The Snake plant thrives in sandy soil. When watering Mother-in-law's tongue, allow soil to dry out before the next watering. Don't allow water to accumulate in the middle of leave rosette.
